The Haze In Singapore

*Look outside of the window* The sky seems to be very clear now.

To all my friends, hope all of you are keeping yourself safe and hydrated!

The haze was pretty bad and it has broke the highest PSI (Pollution Standard Index) level record since 1997 at 401!!! Furthermore, this is three hour average reading! Can't imagine what is the exact hourly PSI. Because of this haze, I can not run or swim!

But what could be worse than having an irresponsible neighbour who, by the way is the culprit behind this pollution?!?!
I am sure most of you have read what the Indonesia Government has said about us.

First ridiculous comment I read:

So irresponsible and unreasonable! I totally rolled my eyes at the "What about all the oxygen that (Indonesia) supplies to them during the rest of the year?" Since when we are taking oxygen from you all?

Then follow by this outrageous comment by Agung Laksono:
"Singapore should not be behaving like a child and making all this noise,"

"This is not what the Indonesian nation wants, it is because of nature."
Link: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/indonesia-chides/717798.html

EXCUSE ME??? You made us suffer and now said we are making a lot of noise and behaving like a child? And how dare you said this haze is because of nature. Ok, I understand that there will be smoke when there are fire but IF there are no fire, there won't be any smoke!! No?

Then they do not want to apologise to us!

Hello Indonesia! Wake up your idea please! Singapore always the first when your country met with earthquake, how can you said such irresponsible things?!?!

Besides all these nonsense from Indonesia, I am also disgusted by some Singaporeans. Greedy people are making use of this episode and selling mask at high price! Sham on you guys!!! How can you all think of making profit in this situation??

If any of you see any shops or individuals selling mask at ridiculous price, please report to CASE.

But still, am glad to see some lovely and nice Singaporeans giving out free masks to the needy and elderly.

If I have the resources, I would definitely do this. Okay, keep safe and healthy everyone!

I Hate Assignment!

Hello,

I am back to blogging again! Funny, after I revived my blog last week. I have friends suddenly asking me if I am still blogging, one of them asked me if I deleted my blog. But no, I did not delete my blog but I changed my URL to www.dumbellz.blogspot.com. No longer using dumb-dumb-dumbellz.blogspot.com haha.

Anyway, I am doing my assignment now while waiting for my meeting with Ultimate Projects later at 7pm. Found out about CHAT over at Scape where you can sit around to chill and relax. There is even power point and free wifi so it's very good for students if they want to do their assignments etc.

I am just taking a break from my assignment. So I thought maybe I can just blog.

I really hate assignment you know...

Okay, bye.

Five & Dime, Eat Play Love Cafe

Hi,

My name is Daniel and I am still a blogger because I still owns a blog. It is just that I have no time and sometimes too lazy to blog.

Anyway, today I will be blogging about two restaurant/cafe that I went last Saturday with my secondary school friends for my advance birthday celebration.

You know, I always want to discover interesting and nice cafes/restaurants that offers good food (and affordable). To be honest, there are a lot of hidden gems in Singapore!

We had brunch over at Five & Dime. It is a cozy place which located at River Valley Road.

I want to recommend you all to try their Mentaiko Pasta! It is a must try! It is so delicious! But sadly, the portion is too small (or maybe it's just me...) because I finished it very fast.

I would also recommend you all to try their hotcakes. Not a fan of hotcak myself but I have to admit that they are very thick. Sorry, I am to lazy to insert the picture here but please trust me.

After the heavy brunch (Ok, this is what they claimed! Because I am actually still hungry.) We went to walk around at Scape and Takashimaya. Chill over at Macha House at Orchard Central before we proceed to Bugis for our dinner at Eat Play Love Cafe.

Some photos taken at Macha House.

OKAY! HERE COME THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POST!

I want to share with you all this cafe which I chanced upon on 8Days Magazine as you know right, after my friends and I shared photos taken over there and upload on our social media platform, a lot of our friends asked us where is this place!

It's called Eat Play Love Cafe which located at 28 Aliwal Street #01-07 Aliwal Arts Centre Singapore, Singapore 199918. I was looking up for places so I just randomly choose this cafe that was recommended by the magazine, google information about it and when I went over to their Facebook Page.

I totally in love with the colour of the cafe and the decorations. They even have this Art & Craft corner which you can pay a price to do some handicraft.

It was crowded when we visit since it's on a weekend. I do see Muslim friends dining here so we thought it must be halal certified but few days back, I saw on their Facebook Page that they are not Halal Certified.

The place just reminds me of my childhood with all those old time snacks and sweets. The decorations are very vintage and give you this kampong feel, like the cup they served you are those old metal cups but somehow I think it diluted your water and give the metal kind of taste which is weird.

Next, the food there are very cheap! I ordered Tom Yum Seafood Noodle and it's only $8.50!!!

I think I will visit them again as I want to try their waffles! All right, let me end this post with some photos taken that day. Thank you my friends for the celebrations!

To be contined...

Tony Romas + Hungry Chimps

Busy busy! I do not really have the time to blog so let me just update some outings I went. :)

Had dinner at Tony Romas with my army friends, it's always nice to pamper myself so I ordered rib eye (though I still feel hungry after that...)

Yummy steak! I have taken a liking to them ever since I had my first try with my army friends in Kl.

And here's a group photo! (Minus some people!)

Went for movie after that, I think we went for Dark Knight Rises. Sorry, can't really remember as this happened quite few weeks.

***

Meet up with Jiahao and Thiamyue. Brought the two over to Hungry Chimps for Brunch lunch.

Read a few online reviews about Hungry Chimps, so decided to try. The atmosphere here is nice and lovely.

64A Prinsep Street #02-01, Singapore, Singapore 188667

Jiahao!

Thiamyue, thinking what to eat...

We ordered the calamari because review say its nice! LOL!

Thiamyue's order. Shredded Chicken Pasta. (actually not sure if I get the correct name or not...)

Photo with his pasta.

Jiahao's Two Little Pork which he think is very hard.

Jiahao and his Two Little Pork.

And this is mine, I forgot the name but this cost about $14 and I really like the sauce!

Sadly, I didn't get a picture of myself with my order. Don't think the two of them want to help me take, they even rejected for a group photo!

Ending picture with this! I hope I will blog soon!

Project PACSA

Been a month since I last blogged so right now I am going to blog about the Volunteer Project that my friends and I organized on 30th June 2012. We have this self interest volunteer group called The Ultimate Projects (UP) which was founded by Raine and Tong.

My first project with UP was 2 years ago. You can read here.

If any of you are my friends or follows me on Twitter, you all will be hearing me talking about this volunteer project. The project name is actually Project PACSA. PACSA stands for Paint and Create Study Area.

The objectives of this project is that we want to help these low income families as they do not have the financial power to create a place for their children to study. For example, do not have proper study table or not enough lighting.

So we decided to lend a hand to them. I am really glad that I have this opportunities to be part of this meaningful project though I feel that my role is actually nothing compared to my other friends. (I am the Social Media guy for Ultimate Projects.)

Anyway, there is a lot of planning involved like going around asking for sponsorship and volunteers. Initially, the number of volunteers who signed up were very poor until we created an event page for it and boom! We got 150plus volunteers and it was so much that we do not have enough beneficiaries and we have to keep looking for more!

On the actual day, it was really unbelievable that so many of the volunteers turned up that day!

Though there was some hipcups but was glad that everything went well after that. The team members of UP reached Ang Mo Kio at around 8am so that we can prepare the furniture, paints and all the other items for the project.

AMK 3G Centre which was our meeting place before the event starts!

And this is Zhao Liang who is giving out instructions to the volounteers

Went around to took pictures of the volunteers as they are divided to individual groups. Two of my army friends came and support the event! Even shocked that one of my company platoon sergeant also attended!

All set and ready to deliver paints and brush for the units that require painting.

Some pictures that I took

And this is a group photo with Jeaneatte group when Ultimate Projects team passed by to the unit.

Most of the units were done around 4pm except for one unit which was a special case, there were 20plus volunteers for this unit but we were not able to finish cleaning the house as his house got hell lot of stuff. So in the end we had to call for more help and it only ended at about 9plus.

These was only the items from his living room.

After the clearing, we also did painting for his living room.

I didn't manage to take the picture of the unit before the cleaning start but heard from my friends that it was very serious and left them dumbfounded due to the owner enjoy keeping lots of rubbish stuff.

Thanks to this project, I get to meet different kind of people from different background. It's an all new experience for me and it also allow me to learn a few new things. Planning this event is never easy, going for house visits and looking for beneficiaries are not easy too. I am really very fortunate to be part of this event! Really!

Also, this event will not be a success without the help of our sponsors and volunteers. I would really like to thank all the volunteers who came down that day and helped us! It's really very nice of you and I hope that day is a meaninglyful event for you guys!
